The team at 100% Martial Arts was honoured to be a part of the UFC Fan Village at Landsdowne Park – Civic Centre/Parc Lansdowne in Ottawa this past weekend. We had such an amazing time all weekend long working alongside some of the strongest and most inspirational athletes from UFC and Special Olympics Ontario.
To gear up for the weekend UFC event, the team at 100% Martial Arts was beyond grateful to host some of our own athletic heroes including UFC Champs Chris Weidman, Steven Ray and Chad Laprise as part of the UFC Special Olympics training night at our dojo. We had a dojo packed full of champions and some awe-inspiring one-on-one training. Our motto for the night was:
“Let me win and if I can’t win let me try to”.
From Thursday-Saturday, our 100% Martial Arts Team hosted live demos and drills at the UFC Fan Village in downtown Ottawa. We provided professional and fun demonstrations on Ground Grappling, Standing Kicks and Standing Striking. These public workouts drew in huge crowds of UFC fans and got everyone sweating together alongside some of the top UFC fighters including UFC middleweight Chris Weidman, UFC Bantamweight Aljamain Sterling and UFC Lightweight Stevie Ray. In the end, it was the ladies of the UFC that really stole the show this weekend, and we got the lucky chance to meet the stunning UFC Octagon Girl Chrissy Blair and the epic Joanne Calderwood – Jojo.
A huge thank you to everyone who made the night so great – Steve Lyrette, Bill Gatchell, Emily Bentivoglio, Melhem Wehbe and Bahaur Al-Bassam. If you haven’t checked out the buzz on our instagram, follow this link to see our favourite fighters in action.
